Format:

Daytime practical classes & ensemble rehearsals, evening jam sessions, and public concerts on Tuesday & Friday evening.

Three strands exist within the Week 1 course (All instruments):

Stage 1, looking at the fundamentals of the musical language and using non-scary repertoire, designed to help those who are unfamiliar and/or inexperienced in playing jazz;

Stage 2, tutor-directed small bands working through repertoire.

Vocal class, led by Lee, and accompanied by a piano trio. Also some opportunities for singers to perform with one of the Stage 2 bands where appropriate.

Week 2 course (Exclusively for Piano, Guitar, Bass and Drums/Percussion):

Range of performance workshops, rehearsals and tutorial sessions, all designed to explore the creative possibilities of trio and duo playing.

Focus of both courses:

A broad and inclusive range of jazz styles/idioms, all with a uniting thread of creativity and of course, improvisation.
